How It Works

The Friends Life Care Plan is a one-of-a-kind program regulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance as a continuing care retirement community without walls. Simply stated: we provide the same continuum of care as a residential community; we just do it in the comfort and privacy of your home.

When you become a member of the Friends Life Care Plan, you have no waiting period to access service and no claims to file. Our plan spares you and your loved ones the stress and uncertainty of locating, coordinating, and trying to pay for reliable home care on your own. We establish a relationship with you as a member before you ever need care. Then, when you need help covered by the plan, all it takes is a phone call. Our Care Coordinators are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to arrange for the services you require from our carefully screened and expertly credentialed nurses, home health aides, therapists and companions. Your Care Coordinator designs and oversees a plan specifically for you and acts as your key contact.

When You Qualify for Care

Any marked change in health status can qualify you for care:

• When you need assistance in two activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting or transferring

• When you have a significant cognitive impairment, such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease

The Friends Life Care Plan is designed to help you remain in your home for as long as safely possible. If it is deemed necessary, the plan also covers the cost of assisted living or nursing home care in the facility of your choice, should you select that service option.

Fees You Can Live With

With Friends Life Care, you pay a simple monthly, quarterly, semiannual or annual fee (your choice), based on the care and service options you desire. As a nonprofit organization, Friends Life Care is uniquely equipped to provide you with an affordable plan that covers the real cost of quality care without concern for big corporate earnings.  We offer discounts for household memberships and “preferred health status,” and our fees are tax-deductible.
